கதை கேளு, கதை கேளு

Always had a doubt on whether Santhana Bharathi, Singeetham seenivasa rao, is as talented as the likes of their contemporary greats like Mani, Bharathi raja. They have taken various classic comedies and some melancholy, extra ordinary classics and those scripts don’t have anything similar except for one man Kamala hasan. So, Is it really true that kamal uses these directors as just ghost directors and just for the fame of their names. If so, as a kamal fan, I’ll strongly object it because I don’t believe the name KAMAL is fewer crowd pulling or less charismatic or less familiar than the other names.

I have heard that Mr.Singeethem is known for the fame of making trick shots like vital acharya. So, is it the reason why kamal should have opted this man? Remember all the kamal movies directed by Singeetham needs trick shots ( Aboorva sagotharargal, Michael madana Kama Rajan, Mumbai Express, Kadhala Kadhala). Also, Singeetham is quite a fame in telugu industry. Kamal also known for his business mind could’ve used it to lure the telugu crowd. It would be quite faulty to add K.S.Ravikumar among the likes of these. I have a slight instinct that he wouldn’t have been used as another ghost director. And what about Santhana bharathi? Mm.. though I want to be centric, (I’m alien to the real cinema world) I cannot avoid shrinking my whole face when I see Santhana bharathi as the director in the title card of “GUNA”. அப்போ , அன்பே சிவம் director ? அய்யோ ! அய்யோ !

In Michael, madana, kama rajan just after the end of the title card song (“Bioscope ல கதை கேளு, கதை கேளு ) , the father of the wealthy madan hangs his son’s portrait (செம smart பாஸ்) in the background and in the foreground the title card flashes “Direction : சிங்கீதம் சீனிவாச ராவ்”.

Any உள் குத்தம் friends ?

You are right! I was @ the Mumbai express shooting in Juhu area in Mumbai. A friend was part of the unit and was invited to visit the sets.

Kamal, Kovai sarala, ramesh arvind and the rest of the junta was there. Kamal was explaining the shots, the angle, how the camera had to come from the entrance and proceed to the hall etc.

A friend had accompanied me to the sets and asked me who the director of the film was. I said Kamalahassan without realising the fact that it was not Kamal who was the director. I knew it was Singeetham but somewhere when I saw Kamal explaining the shot division, I automatically mentioned him as the director.

Ofcourse, Singeetham was there to say "Cut.. action.. lunch break .. etc

Its not Kamal who is over shadowing Singeetham...Kamal as we all have to agree is a Perfectionist and wants to potray his acting in a proper way. he does not want to take directions from any director(except for balacnager) and spoil the movie. And another thing is If Simbhu wants to do directing, y not Kamal ???

But when Kamal is immensely talented, why should he be under shadows of such mediocre directors? Humility? No...he has never been humble....he is sort of Maverick (which suits him, of course!). Maybe he has created some sort of cynicism in the minds of producers...they seem to be skeptical about his efforts....

The comment above say "kamal is a perfectionist", a statement which he himself has denied in an interview.....he said "there is no such thing as perfection. There is only excellence. My efforts will not be perfect they will be excellent!"

Just to give a different perspective here... Kamal is not what he is without the people around him... Over the years, it is people like Singeetham, K.B, Santhanabharathi, Sujatha, Ilayaraja, Ananthu etc that have shaped him to be this most admirable person he is. I don't think it's fair to compare SB and Singeetham S Rao with Bharathiraaja / MR. They could be very useful people for Kamal in terms of "Kootu pori" (euphemism:An intellectual discussion), i.e if you still remember what it is. And since Kamal is on-screen and these people are not, it's easy to underestimate their abilities.
At least, I admire SB for his acting skills. In Anbe Sivam, there's one scene where SB goes into hibernation tired of waiting for Kamal to return from Theatre (of course, to beat him up). And as Kamal arrives at the scene with his gang, SB wakes up wiping the saliva dripping off his face. The reaction is so spontaneous that it can't be acquired through instructions. That to me is true talent!
